财政计划势在必行：人们重新燃起了对美国将出台旨在缓解疫情经济影响的刺激计划的希望。稍早公布的美国9月制造业活动意外放缓，因新订单回落，上周美国初请失业金人数有所下降，但仍高于大衰退期间的水平，以上消息已经支撑黄金的避险吸引力，实现连续八个季度收涨。
原油价格再遇重挫：国际油价连续第二周下跌，布伦特原油重挫近8%，刷新逾三个半月新低。美国总统新冠检测呈阳性的消息震撼了风险资产，加剧了美国9月非农就业人口增速放缓带来的不安情绪，且全球原油产量上升可能击垮能源市场本就疲弱的复苏势头。
