周三(6月24日)欧洲时段，英镑/美元企稳反弹，整体依旧维持强势，日内英国央行重磅官员讲话巩固英国央行升息前景，令英国是继美国之后第二个启动升息进程国家的这一预期得到强化。
英镑/美元在经过上周疾风骤雨般的涨势之后放缓了上升步伐，各大投行的技术分析师正暗示近期英镑或将回调，但长期仍有望进一步上行。
周三英央行货币政策委员威尔称，英国就业市场相当火热，且工资增长加快，他认为英央行应准备好最快在8月份加息，他称7月份加息或许太早，因为7月8日英国财相将发表预算案，同时仍存在希腊是否留在欧元区的问题。
他的讲话显示他可能很快投票支持加息。英央行是主要货币中加息前景仅次于美联储的主要央行，这导致其在交叉盘中走强，特别是兑表现较弱的商品货币如澳元和纽元。
英镑兑美元早前一度上扬0.4%，至1.5796，英镑贸易加权指数升至93.5，为2008年4月以来最高。欧元兑英镑大致持平于0.7102，周二曾触及四周低位0.70805。
