在黄金交易中，当日权益减去持仓保证金就是资金余额。如果当日权益小于持仓保证金，则意味着资金余额是负数，同时也意味着保证金不足了。
按照规定，经纪公司会通知帐户所有人在下一交易日开市之前将保证金补足。此举即称为追加保证金。
强制平仓是指当交易所会员或客户的交易保证金不足并未在规定时间内补足，或者当会员或客户的持仓量超出规定的限额时，或者会员、客户违规时，交易所为了防止风险进一步扩大，而实行强制平仓。
而在现货黄金交易中，当交易账户中的预付款比例等于或者低于30%的时候，交易平台会从亏损金额最多的交易单开始强行平仓，直到预付款比例恢复30%以上。
投资者可以在MT4交易平台中的“终端——交易”内查看预付款比例。预付款比例=净值/已用预付款。
