一、设立“黄金专用账户”。以香港一些银行的办法为例，个人黄金专用账户可以挂在个人储蓄账户号码下面，但是需要投资者凭有效证件去银行申请，申请账户并不需要手续费，但是要预先存入一定金额的货币，以便日后交易。
二、黄金账户下又分为实物黄金和黄金存折两种方式，投资者可以选择适合自己的方式。其中，黄金实物由于上海黄金交易所已规定金锭的最小交易单位为1千克，最小提取单位为6千克，这意味着个人投资者将很难购买到6千克以下的金块，以后个人能在银行买到的将主要是10克、20克的金牌、金条等“品牌金”，购买者以收藏、馈赠为主要目的；想赚取市场差价的投资者则会更多地使用黄金存折，银行会直接在账上打下交易记录。
三、黄金交易的整个过程比较简单，与现在“炒汇”的方法类似。个人投资者可以通过电话、网上银行输入账号、密码后直接交易。不过，银行要进行来源、品质的鉴定，而且购买经过加工的金牌、金条，价格上会比原料金高，但投资者出手时的价格只能是即时原料金的价格。
四、黄金存折内的黄金根据国际惯例不计息，货币部门按活期储蓄利率计息。另外，由于银行在黄金交易所要交纳交易费，所以个人买卖黄金要收取相应的交易费用。但我国各家银行到底是收取交易点差还是每笔规定额度等一系列非常详细的操作流程，则要等央行具体的管理办法出台后才能确定。
